My cod4 is messed up please help!!?

i have cod4 on my computer and i was changing the settings and i put the screen refresh rate from 75Hz to 50Hz and now when i open it .. the screen goes all pixulated and i cant see the menu so i have to close it ... can anyone tell me how to get it to work ? thanksMy cod4 is messed up please help!!?
Change it back to 75Hz ?

Right click desktop

Personalize

Display Settings

Make sure your colours are 32 bit and the slider is all the way along

Now click advanced settings

Monitor tab

Change the screen refresh rate to 75Hz

Click ok

Did that help ?

Also make sure that your graphics aren't running in safe mode. When CoD finds an error it asks to run the graphics in safe mode, and this may be what is causing the bad effects. My cod4 is messed up please help!!?
Change it back to 75Hz.

Monitor not specified available video resolutions?

Hi my Monitor is a VIZIO tv and every time i try playing a game it tells me that the mode is not supported and after weeks of trying to fix it i found out it is my screen Refreshing rate and my Monitor is telling the computer that it is ok to use this one but it is not and will not work so i keep having to go into the files of the game and changing them from notepad but not all games are EASY to do that on how can i fix my monitor?Monitor not specified available video resolutions?
You can't. The best way to fix that problem is simply to lower your refresh rate to the refresh rate of your TV. You can do this by right clicking on your desktop and clicking Properties. Go to the Settings tab and click the Advanced button. Go to the Monitor tab and change the refresh setting to the setting one step above when your tv starts flickering.

When is this thumbs issue going to get fixed?

Each time you refresh the page the thumb ratings change. Is this a bug? Why is it happening? Is it ever going to get fixed? That is how I rated my answersWhen is this thumbs issue going to get fixed?
When Yahoo Answers updated about a week ago, there were some glitches that hung around, and some of them are still out there - such as the rating and voting issues.

No one knows when it will get fixed (I don't even think Yahoo themselves have the foggiest clue) so for now we will just have to deal with it.

Good luck. When is this thumbs issue going to get fixed?
They had a message recently on the main page about unexpected downtime which they were working on. The voting is still wrong with some answers having 100% then 0%. Various other glitches too..It often happens after maintenance but it is going on more than usual. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Help with video driver?

On my main and newer computer, my video driver (NVIDIA) grants me the options to adjust the color correction and sharpness of my screen. On my secondary computer, which is a Dell Dimension 3000, only allows me to adjust screen refresh rate, resolution, etc.; I downloaded the video drivers directly from the dell website, so they are up to date. How can I change the color correction and sharpness on my Dell? Please provide me with a link to a compatible driver that will allow me such options.Help with video driver?
generic dell drivers usually don't give you many options because the driver is for video that is built onto the motherboard. Nvidia is an actual graphics card that has drivers to completely customize your card and display settings. you may not have another option for your dell unless you add an actual graphics card

How can i fix my video card freezing with CCC?

First you probably want do know what CCC is, well CCC is Catalyst Control Center. This is like the display settings window built into your system, but instead this got installed for the new video card i got.

The control center is useful, it has a whole bunch of things that can be changed around and adjusted.

I wanted to know if you can adjust something in the ccc, so that when my system changes resolution, the system wont freeze. Because everytime i play a game for example, the system freezes very soon after the resolutuion changed. I found this nifty thing in the ccc, it says that my monitor has a max resolution of 1440x900, i think that this may be causing the problem. However, even when changing the resoultion to a smaller setting, my system still freezes. So do i need to change resolution?

Next, i found that my monitor has a max refresh rate or 75 Hz. I do not know what happens when i play games. Its possible that that refresh rate becomes too high and my monitor cant handle it. This is also a possibility but i dont know...

Lastly the ccc has a 3D refresh rate override, i do not know what this is but this is also one of my bets that it could be causing the problem. The ccc says: By default, some full screen applications operate at a refresh rate of 60 Hz, instead of the desktop refresh rate.

~back to me now- the 3D override gives me many options to change the Hz, ranging from 30 to 200. My current set Hz for 3D override is 75, should i lower or higher this?

Those things above are my most likely answers, but if not ccc has other things that can cause a problem, i will list:

1- ccc has an option that says: For displays of limited resolution capabilities, select either:

-List only those modes supported by all displays

-Only allow panning on limited-resolution displays

-List all possible modes(including panning modes)

~me againg- so what does panning mean, does it cause a problem with resolution?

Lastly, some more options in ccc are

-Anti-alliasiong (currently set to 4x)

-Anisotropic Filtering (no idea what this is, currently set a 4x)

-Wait for vertial refresh ( i dont know what this does, but its set a off, i can adjust on or off)

-Adaptive anti-aliasing (improves quality, currently off)

- OpenGL settings: Tripple buffering, improves the frame rate of games when vertical sync (V-Sync) is enabled and the frame rate is less than the refresh rate.

Thats it for now, there is much more to ccc, but i dont think they pertain to my problem. I know this is super long but im desperate for answers, please help me!!How can i fix my video card freezing with CCC?
Always use the native refresh rate based on your monitor not the max refresh rate.

Why is my monitor flickering?

I just got a new graphics card, an ATI Radeon HD 4850. Installed it fine. But now my monitor has a noticeable flicker on the screen. I think it is due to the refresh rate, but all of the places where i can change it to 60Hz, i have done so, such as in the ATI control center and under Properties%26gt;Settings%26gt;Advanced. I dont know how to fix this problem at all. It was a tight squeeze to get the card in my case, could it be cause the physical card is touching something? Oh and i have my resolution at 1440x900. It's a 19 inch widescreen. Why is my monitor flickering?
Check the connections (power and to the comp to make sure that they are snug. Also, try and reinstall the graphics and monitor drivers. Why is my monitor flickering?
Found out the reason for this problem, it was a setting in my ATI Catalyist software i had to change. thanks for the help anyways.

Cables plugged in tight?
its your video card, get a new one from nVidia
is your cell phone near the screen?
either your connection is bad or you need too reset your router. Or maybe it's not plugged in right. If it's thats not it then get it checked out
try to lower your resolution or update the card driver.
I would first of all try the pc with a different monitor, , do you have a spare, or a friend with a spare (even a crt monitor will do )

If the problem persists with a different monitor then it definetly the card.

I would uninstall the card and drivers, , then reinstall them all again.

You could also run the card at a lower resolution and if the problem disapears, then up the resolution bit by bit.

But if all this doesnt resolve the issue, , its definetly the refresh rate that need attending to.

Screen flickers, how to stop it?

my computer flickers, all white horizontal lines flash around the screen when i click or sometimes just move the mouse. I think the term is flicking.

how do i fix it? do i change some setting or is it a hardware problem?

i have the screen refresh rate at 60hz, the higher i put it the worse it gets(85 worse than 75), would the video card have anything to do with it?Screen flickers, how to stop it?
It is most probably a hardware problem. Some dry solder or so..Try giving little shakes to your monitor.. If it doesnt work out, call a techinician..Screen flickers, how to stop it?
Blink whenever it flickers so that the image on the screen just seems to be continuous.

Ubuntu resolution please please please help?

I'm using Ubuntu Edgy Eft, and it doesn't have any screen resolution options higher than 1024x768. How do I change to a higher resolution? I've managed to get a higher refresh rate, but that's all.

I'm using a acer AC713 17'; moniter, but I'm not sure what graphics card I'm using.

Absolutely beginner, by the way. Thanks a lot for any help.Ubuntu resolution please please please help?
This answer is for ';feisty fawn';, one release newer, I believe.

You want to install the xserver package with higher resolutions. This is what I did:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure 鈥損high xserver.xorg

Follow the directions at this web page: http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/ChangeReso Stop X Windows.

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop

Edit the /etc/x11/xorg.conf file and update the horizontal and vertical refresh values.

Section ';Monitor';

Identifier ';Samsung SyncMaster 970P';

HorizSync 30-81

VertRefresh 56-75

EndSection

Update the Screen section.

Section ';Screen';

Identifier ';Default Screen';

Device ';NVIDIA Corporation NV34 [GeForce 7950 GT]';

Monitor ';Samsung SyncMaster 970P';

DefaultDepth 16

SubSection ';Display';:

Depth 16

Modes ';1280x1024'; ';1024x768';

EndSubSection

EndSection

Restart X Windows.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start

Note that these instructions are for my Samsung Syncmaster flat screen display. You'd have to substitute values for your Acer monitor.

By the way, there are a number of super websites for providing answers to Ubuntu questions. One of the places that I like the best is http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feist

Again note that this is for ';feisty fawn';.Ubuntu resolution please please please help?
Well for me check out the your software if it support your video card or your monitor. Then find look for the drivers of your items.

But I think It is much better to use Linux Suse. :)
here is the best thing for you to do right now. take your computer downtown climb to the highest building you can find and throw your computer off because its running the worst operating system known to man. and then you should jump off afterwards for allowing whoever put linux on your pc to do it.

  • Ubuntu Linux + fix for horizontal lines?

My monitor shows dark horizontal lines on orange - You'd fix it with the 'horizontal' control if it was on your TV - that showed up when I tried to lower the screen resolution. I ended up having to reinstall; but how do I fix the problem - I really want a lower resolution, easier on the eyes.

NB More info: My monitor is Xerox XR3-17Gs, now at highest resolution, refresh rate shows as 0hz and can't change it when I go to to Systems, Preferences, Screen Resolution.Ubuntu Linux + fix for horizontal lines?
You can also try going to System %26gt; Administration %26gt; Hardware Drivers to make sure your video card has the proper proprietary drivers installed if it needs them.Ubuntu Linux + fix for horizontal lines?
In your system preferences there should be a button in the lower-right area that says ';administrator'; or something similar... been a while since I've been in an ubuntu installation looking at video properties...

You need to click that button first, enter your password when it asks, before it will allow you to make changes to the settings.

Also, you might have to go to the ';monitor'; tab and tell it what kind of monitor you have before it will allow you to select a different resolution. Most likely the problem you have is that the refresh rate is either too high or too low for the monitor to handle properly.

If it's an LCD monitor, choose 60Hz If it's a tube-type, select 70 or 72 Hz which should work for most tube monitors. (60Hz on a tube-type monitor will cause the display to look like it's flickering, but that won't happen on an LCD monitor at 60hz.)

Why does my body do weird things when I am using my laptop computer?

When I use my laptop, my heart rate sometimes beats heavier, my stomach hurts, I get warm and sweat, I get tired and foggy brained (ADD). Any one, two, or all of these things can happen when I use the computer. Some screens (more writing) bring about a more pronounced reaction than others. Can this be the refresh rate (mine is 60HZ and won't change), or brightness? I wear regular shades and zoom the screen which helps some but not enough. Sound familiar to anyone? How do I set my 120Hz Phillips HDTV to 60Hz?

Today I got a new Philips HDTV. Model 42PFL7403D/27B

It's a great TV, and boasts 120Hz refresh rate, but I'm wanting to change it to the conventional 60Hz or whatever the standard HDTVs run at, because it's simply too perfect to look at, I know it doesn't make sense, but it's true. And when running videos, it seems to be SUPER smooth with the frame-rates in some parts, and jumps a little in others, and I am inclined to think that it is in fact the HD Engine that's doing it unfortunately, and it's simply not able to keep up. So if anyone can help me get to an advanced settings on it, a software hack, or something, that'd be really nice.

FYI, I have looked rather thoroughly through the menu, and I haven't seen anything obvious. In ';Demo'; mode, it does have a comparison of ';Conventional Vs. 120Hz';, but there's no setting to use the conventional mode that I'm seeing.

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide.

TomHow do I set my 120Hz Phillips HDTV to 60Hz?
Under your ';Picture Settings'; menu you will see an option labeled ';HD Natural Motion (HDNM)';. Select this option and here you will find that you can either enable or disable this feature.

I understand exactly your issue with this feature. I actually get this from many people that have seen the 120 Hz operation for some time. The motion they produce is NOT natural and can be overwhelmed. When overwhelmed they can produce artifacts like haloing and jerky bursts of motion. I always recommend that people disable this feature when watching DVDs just because of the issues you have observed and documented here. How do I set my 120Hz Phillips HDTV to 60Hz?
You can't turn off 120 Hz, but you can turn of the interpolation of the extra frames. If you do that, you will get duplicate frames at a 120 Hz rate, which will look like 60 Hz. In your setup menu you should find a control for ';smooth motion'; or something like that, which you should be able to turn off. You should be able to see the difference, which should be most apparent in scenes that are panned slowly. The motion should be more ';jerky'; with the interpolation off.

How can I increase the FPS rate of my PC?

Let me give you my systems specs first:

    OS: WinXP SP3

    RAM : 1.50 GB

    Remaining HDD Space: 70GB

    Processor: Dual Core 2.80Ghz

    Vcard: Nvidia GeForce 9400 512mb

    Problem:

When I play games like LEFT 4 DEAD (SPECS: http://www.bigfatcheats.com/index.php?/Latest/Left-4-Dead-PC-Specs.html) and PROTOTYPE (SPECS: http://www.actiontrip.com/rei/comments_news.phtml?id=060109_5) my FPS rate is only at 5-7 (Checked it using FRAPS) so you can imagine how laggy/jumpy it is...

Things I tried doing so far:

    - Reinstalled my OS

    - Changed my screen refresh to 75Hz and turned on Vsync in Prototype (cant really notice the difference)

    - Tried playing the game at its lowest possible settings (still very laggy)

    - Updated the driver for the Vcard (there was a slight increase in FPS cause b4 I updated the driver FPS was at 2-3)

    - Defragmented the HDD

    - Closed prgrams and all background programs (like anti-virus) while playing the game (still didnt do much)

    Additional Question:

I also notice that when I play in some websites flash videos (animefreak.tv) and play some Facebook flash games its also lagging badly, could these problems be connected? If so, how do I fix this?

I really need help with this, Ive been trying to figure this out for almost 2 weeks now..How can I increase the FPS rate of my PC?
You probably need to upgrade your PC. At the moment you are just running over minimum requirements, and I don't think Left 4 Dead will work perfectly on Windows XP to start with.

As these are fairly brand new games, they should work better on the other OS's Vista or 7.

Hope this helps! How can I increase the FPS rate of my PC?
One very importand step for performance is to download your motherboards chipset drivers. It affect acces to RAM dIisk drives etc.

If you have an NVIDIA chipset find the chipset series number and istall the drivers the same goes for all brands. Also if you can you may try some overclocking the CPU,there are many sites with instructions how to do it.
whatever you did will not improve the performance of your pc. here's what you need to do:

upgrade your ram to at least 4GB ddr2 pc800

increase the hard drive space to at least 320GB 10,000rpm

upgrade the processor to at least core 2 duo E8500 2.6 GHz, better if Q8400 2.66GHz

upgrade the GPU to nvidia 9800 1GB ddr2 at least

and try upgrading to windows 7 if possible because windows 7 runs faster than xp

PS: Never close the antivirus program

What causes choppy minimize and maximize animations?

I know this seems like a mundane detail, but on a computer with an Athlon Dual Core processor and 1 gigabyte of ram, why would playing a game (like The Sims 2) cause the minimize and maximize animations of all windows to be choppy and slow after closing the game down? I tried adjusting the refresh rate and updating my graphics card drivers, but to no avail... It is interesting though, that the issue is temporarily resolved if I change the screen's color quality to 16 bit and back again to 32 bit, but the same thing just happens again when the game is launched the next time. How can I remedy this? What causes choppy minimize and maximize animations?
What kind of Video Card are you running. Or, are you running onboard graphics? What causes choppy minimize and maximize animations?
If you want to get rid of this animation altogether, go to your control panel and click on performance and maintenance. Then click on system and go over to the 'advanced' tab. Click on the settings button under performance. The first checkbox you see should say something like ';Animate Windows When...'; - uncheck it and you should be fine. If you still want the animation but don't want it to be choppy, I don't know what to tell you. I have a GeForce 7800GT and I have that problem sometimes, also.
Have you run a diagnostic on DirectX? It might give some clues.

    Run a diagnostic from START/RUN

    type in

    dxdiag

Other than that, I'd bring up the window to see what processes are running. You may have some background TSR that is hogging up resources. (ctrl-alt-del - check for Mem Usage) - There might have been a dumped process running in the background.

    Change card ram?

How can I change the amount of ram my vido card is allotted? I would like to give it more.

I want to do this because sometimes in a game textures will appear as black and purple checker boards but only after my computer has been on for a long time. Usually a restart will fix this.

Is this an over heating problem? Should i turn up my system fan speed, or is this a ram problem, I have a gig in here so I should be able to safely give it some without my computer suffering. Could it be my refresh rate? It is set at 60 right now.

My graphics card is an ATI RADEON EXPRESS 200 and right now it has 128mb to use.Change card ram?
The Video RAM (VRAM) is on the card and is hardware so you can't (sensibly) change that.

It does sound like there might be heat or other hardware issues going on here.

Too hard to diagnose in a chat site. Try a good repair/upgrade shop.

    ///Change card ram?
You can set the amount of system RAM it uses from within your computers BIOS. The maximum amount is 128MB, so if it is set to that already, that's as far as it will go. Go into your BIOS to check.

Does anyone know how to change monitor settings?

Before I reinstalled windows I was having trouble with the display. I used to play D2 with a friend of mine and it wasn't loading anymore...

Now, there's a problem with it still - when it comes to DirectDraw %26amp; Direct3D... It says that there's no usable videomodes and my computer is too old or whatever. IT WAS WORKING BEFORE!!!

After a little bit of research, I found that it was because I needed to change my display settings. From Default Monitor to whatever. Unfortunately, it won't let me change it. I'll go to my settings and all that, then the dropdown under Screen Refresh Rate... It only has ';Use hardware default setting';. I can't change it, which sucks. Does anybody know how to fix this problem? Please helppp =(Does anyone know how to change monitor settings?
You need to find the right drivers for you monitor.

Search Google for your monitor make and model and download the latest drivers for it.

Windows won't let you change any of the settings because it can't tell what sort of monitor you have without the right drivers. It just assumes that you have a bog standard run of the mill, generic monitor that can't do anything flash and won't let you change settings that may or may not work.Does anyone know how to change monitor settings?
in my experience, the direct draw demands a graphics card which can handle it and the drivers for that card to be installed specifically, not a windows default driver. the monitor has very little to do w/ this issue.

yueah, the card can be fine and still not have the proper drivers loaded. i've used really old monitors on newer systems and never had to load drivers for the monitor specifically and ran all direct draw just fine. could be wrong but have been working w/ computers since '78 and never seen a monitor cause the issue you mention, only the graphics drivers.

if you still wamnt a driver for your monitor, it wasn't hard to find, go here:

    TIME FOR THE TRUTH

For the past 13 years we have heard how all our problems are the fault of the long since departed apartheid regime.

The ANC spin doctors resort to all sorts of excuses when things go wrong, as they have been doing for the past 10 years.

Now is the time for the truth.

In 1994 the ANC took over a country that was in a healthy state of repair, with an Education system rated one of the top ten in the world.

A Health system that produced pioneers in many fields of medical research and enjoyed the respect of the medical fraternity the world over.

A transportation system that was the envy of the rest of Africa, and a network of roads equal to the best in Europe.

A police force that controlled crime.

A water supply rated one of the cleanest in the world.

    What have we now?

An education system rated at the bottom end of a field of 50, with a required pass rate of 33% (the lowest requirement of any system in the world, and still our pupils are unable to achieve this miserable standard).

We have a health system where those in control believe beetroot and garlic will cure AIDS, where babies die in hospitals through lack of knowledge, medication, equipment and efficient care.

Where untrained staff forget to check regularly on patients in serious condition.

We have a Minerals and Energy Minister who suggests that businesses close for certain periods to conserve electricity whilst South Arica suffers power failures, but until very recently continued to supply electrical power to our northern and eastern neighbours.

We have cholera outbreaks because of contaminated water supplies in rural areas.

We have a crime rate which is just about the highest in the world.

We have a government composed of officials under investigation for corruption, theft, fraud, consorting with criminals, drunken driving, speeding and many other forms of law breaking.

Time to tell the truth – the ANC government is incapable of running our country. And their policies border on insanity.

The ANC policy of Affirmative Action has stripped the country of 75% of its skilled population and is responsible for the deprivation of the constitutional and social rights of the white population.

The practice of putting black people in a position way above their ceiling of competence is now showing the inevitable signs of efficiency erosion at all levels. Along with the inevitable rise in prices and lowering of standards of service and living.

The Black Economic Empowerment policy has empowered a certain group of people (all ANC members) at the expense of the entire population. And has cost, and continues to cost, our country billions of rand.

The ANC government officials, both local and national have embarked on a policy of rewarding themselves with excessive salaries, and ridiculous bonuses, for utter inefficiency.

Eskom is another case in point, with an alleged R143 million paid in bonuses, whilst the country suffers an energy crisis due to ignorance and lack of planning. This crisis now threatens the economy of our country.

I am sure many of those who operate a Telkom service have had the pleasure of holding on for 49 minutes when contacting Telkom's help line. (My personal best was 59 minutes on January 26, 2008. I must admit that I was helped after that period, which was a refreshing change).

We have a crime rate that is the envy of the Russian Mafia, who will no doubt soon be relocating to Johannesburg and Cape Town. (The Sicilian Brotherhood are already here it seems, enjoying the friendship of some of our Commissioners and Ministers).

We have roads which, in the rural areas, are slowly crumbling away, if they have not already disintegrated.

We have roads in our towns and cities which have more potholes than a slice of Swiss cheese. We have traffic lights which do not work for at least 2 - 3 days each month.

As a reward for this farcical and criminal inefficiency, the government hands out awards and bonuses to all concerned.

Let's be honest. Several Ministers should have been fired by the President 4 years ago. Those involved in Health, Safety and Security, Education, Home Affairs, Land Affairs, Labour and Minerals and Energy should long since have walked the plank.

The latest madness is to disband the one department that stands between absolute corrupt government and the man in the street, the Scorpions.

In fact our democracy, such as it is, is under severe threat.

We have a former Minister of Defence who bought fighter planes which the airforce did not want, and who, it is alleged by a former ANC Minister, received R39-R50 million for his troubles.

We have two submarines (cost R1.6 billion a piece, it is alleged) which are languishing in Cape Town Harbour as no one can drive them.

We also have a fancy army, which costs millions monthly, with no one to fight. Which is why we have millions unemployed and without shelter.

And 4 million refugees, which we cannot afford to cater for.

But if one criticises the present ANC government, (which should be one’s democratic right), one is labeled 'racist'. But the biggest racists are those who accuse others of racism, and everyone knows where they are.

Let's be honest, tell the truth and declare quite openly, the ANC are incapable of running this country.

The Pied Piper. This letter was published in a South African Newspaper.Your thoughts?
Let me start by saying, I do not / did not agree with apartheid. I know it is wrong.

But it doesn't change the fact that the apartheid government knew what they where doing (with regards to keeping the country running).

They where not a bunch of people with high salaries sitting on their arses in a Learjet on their way to another shopping-spree in Dubai. This letter was published in a South African Newspaper.Your thoughts?
I would like to respond to Zim :

1.Can you tell us what exactly was the passing rate of black pupils in SA prior to 94 and what is it today !

    2.http://www.polity.org.za/article.php?a_i…

Aids were not an epidemic yet ,failure to adress the problem was ! Missinformation by our minister is FATAL ! The previous government did not let the people die in the milions of sicknesses like this one does !

3.In all fairness , government simply cannot build roads to where ever Sara Molefe wants to erect her shack ! There are things like infrastructial planning and development ! Why do so many people die in floods in SA ? They build their houses were they are not supposed to and without propper thinking !

When was the last time you went to a village ? How do they plan these things ? They build where they want and it is almost impossible to build roads everywhere ! If you fail to plan, you plan to fail !

    4. Where do you get the rediculous idea that the SAP only protected the whites ? Like you ask , give us your sources !

    5. What rivers were deliberately contaminated because only black people used them ? Are you insane ? Please give us your sources ! In that era you would be arrested for pissing in the street and jailed !

I used to respect your postings but this one borders to the nonsense someone like Ayiza would post !
South Africa is going down the tubes faster than a lead turd, the reason for this is not in the action of the previous government it is the fault of of the ANC who have taken corruption and blatent incompetence to a whole new dimension.

Affirmative action is racist even when you call it (sic) positive discrimination, it is blatant anti-white racism.

Now why arn't all of the librals screaming about this racism?

Hey Zim$ do you remember what was there before Bantu education??

When all of the white and black, anc commi liberals were bitching about the Nats and the state of SA at the time, were they being racist? it would appear that they were.

To all of you people that say that SA blacks were slaves and oppressed yadda, yadda, yadda.. isn't that your mommy calling you, telling you to go to bed?

you went into exile just like all of the millions of White South Africans who find living under a corrupt, Black communist regime like the ANC ,intollerable are doing now, they are voting with their feet, you probably went into exile because the white man wouldn't wipe your RRRRs for you, of course you would have gone straight into university in SA because if you are black you do not require any sort of qualification or academic achievement to get in, that is why qualifications from SA universities are being down graded world wide, it helps to get a job if the student with the degree can actually read.

Hey Zim$ do you remember what was there before Bantu education??
Hi Alf, please post the source or link to make this article have more credibility.
Hi Alf, you also get an Amen to that from me too, ditto to that, I just wish more people could read it in Black and White DAILY, to get the FACTS, in their thick skulls,,......as for some idiots answerer's, well, I just cant understand them....they have the same mind frame as their idiot leader Mbeki.....
One doesn't need facts to realise this is true, its obvious to the naked eye, and to the first response, once again i see answers are blaming the past, instead of correcting them.
hear hear! please post a link - i can think of A LOT of people i'd like to send that to.

as for the posters above me - please post an opinion only if you actually know what you're talking about!!!!! have you ever been to south africa in the past 10 years?

do you realize it is now a reversed apartheid - but the world sits still and does NOTHING? talk about double standards.

do you realize that white peope are raped in front of their families and killed for absolutely no reason?

i can go on, but the above article paints a very clear picture. and yes, it's the absolute truth.

ps, slavery was in america, not south africa. and south africa's minority government was the only government in history to give the country back without any conflicts - such as war, etc. and we didn't murder the natives until we were the majority as with the Native Northern Americans...

';Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

    ***ADD***

found the article - it's an essay. check

    http://sa-essay.blogspot.com/

    ***ADD**

adrose - south africans were more than willing in training the blacks. south africa is the white's country as well, and we didn't want to see it go down the drain. why do you think most of us stayed after 1994?! but with policies such as Affirmitive Action and Black Empowerment, it's impossible to train people - your retrenched because of the colour of your skin... even if you are much better qualified! talk about reverse apartheid!

And if you don't want to learn... You can only take a horse to the water...
    Amen to the truth.

Pity he left out the Landbank fraud (R800 million), the theft of white owned and productive farms and the resultant deterioration in agricultural output, the government sponsored murder of peaceful farmers, the collapse of the Rand, the county's leader's rape trial and 21 children and the collapse of our neighbour to the north largely due to ANC approval of their barbaric policies and refusal to speak out against tyrants such as Mugabe and their various other despotic allies.

Mind you, he was only writing a letter, not a book.
Thanks Alf i have mailed this to all my friends with e mail addresses. I feel quite ashamed that it was you who is British that discovered this article and not me who is South African. All is true
    AMEN .
Except for the ';Fancy Army'; I agree with you. The Defence forces can not be trusted with these expensive weapons. Look what happened with the Oerlikon Anti Aircraft Gun? they managed to shoot their own mates and then blamed the makers, who have been making these for 70 years?

I think that the safest thing to do with the Sub's, Planes, etc is

to leave them to Rot, with the rest of the huge pile of equipment. It was never about the defence of the country in the first place. It was all about ';Empowerment'; of the elite. They would not know the difference between a Boomerang and a Bomber, so, lets hope they never, ever have to use force of Arms. And the Minister doesnt like anything that travels at less than 200k per hour.
My thoughts are, you reap what you sow. You cannot expect to hold the majority of a population in total slavery for generation after generation and then hold on to the same standard of living when that slavery ends.
I agree with Marky. There are problems, no question, but they will gradually be resolved. Apartheid was evil, the majority have won - get used to it.
Hey, Marky, you put your foot in it when you spoke of the ANC 'spin doctors'. This word is a nice way of describiing people of different opinions to yourself. as liars. Which I would not say you are. But, honestly, haven't you done a 'garnet' on your self. Shut away behind your locked doors of Aparthiet, not daring to look out and see where all those wonderful things were coming from, and who provided them at what cost to others that did not have the benefit of he wealth of South Africa. Did you really believe that the day would not come when the majority would rule and that you, in your own defence had better train them to deliver to all South Africans the benefits of modern society. No! you did the same as the Belgians, a so-called Christian people, in the Congo, who got out and left the country to fall ,into disaster. You sowed the wind------
Apartheid prevent education and care of the black community so when it was abolished, what do you hink would happen? This isn;t the fault of the community but the fault of the deciiosn to virtually create slaves in the first place. Had this barbaric regime not have been allowed, the current situation would have been much better.

You are also painting a rosy and false picture of the situation before it ended.

However, not sure why I'm bothering with this as you are obviously a close-minded racist who will dismiss my arguemnts as liberl nonsense.

Luckily, there are more sane minded like me in the world than nasty hate filled people like you.
    To the author of the letter: Your letter is full of inaccuracies, allow me to respond to some points that clearly shows that you are not factual but prejudiced;

Quote: In 1994 the ANC took over a country that was in a healthy state of repair, with an Education system rated one of the top ten in the world.

Response: What do you mean by “healthy state of repair”. You must be joking about the education….when I went to exile….I had to do “O” to be admitted to “A” levels but would have go straight to “black university” in apartheid South Africa……do you still remember Bantu Education? When did it end that made SA education to be among “the top ten in the world”?

Quote: A Health system that produced pioneers in many fields of medical research and enjoyed the respect of the medical fraternity the world over……. We have a health system where those in control believe beetroot and garlic will cure AIDS,

Response: You must be living in a dream world. Who said beetroot and garlic will cure AIDS….give me her direct words, not what people interpreted..

Quote: A transportation system that was the envy of the rest of Africa, and a network of roads equal to the best in Europe.

Response: Go and tell this to granny Belinda in GaMphahele, or to Modise in Sekhutlong, or maybe Mkhize of Nkandla. They will all tell you that you don’t know what you are talking about. I’ll agree with them because you never lived in the rural areas where Blacks were sentenced to abject poverty and no development whatsoever.

Quote: A police force that controlled crime.

Response: Yes, you are right…in as far as protecting whites only. We lived under dark clouds of death threats from gangsters. Majority of whom worked with the police to undermine our fight for liberation.

Quote: A water supply rated one of the cleanest in the world.

Response: The only Blacks who enjoyed clean water were the ones living in the locations…..we used to fetch water from the rivers…..in some cases the rivers would deliberately be contaminated……after all, only Blacks used them….

    ****ADD*****

    To: De La Rey…….

We are unable to know the exact figures as a big chunk of blacks were learning in the Bantustans…… I agree with you that the government’s response to AIDS was not good but should we lie about what the Minister said in order to show how critical the situation is? Why can’t we say what they did or said without adding things they didn’t say or do?

……I agree with you that people can’t expect gov to built roads…..I go to the rural areas at least once every quarter…..ask any Black person who was an adult by early 1990s how often were communities attacked by gangsters and how often were the police assisting to protect them…….I (as part of the team of lawyers under UNISA Legal Aid Centre) handled a case of a small community of Rosenekal in what used to be eastern Transvaal…..a farmer threw insecticide into the river despite him knowing well that they used the river for drinking water…….he then told us that he had the “right to do as he pleased”…..

Quote: “In that era you would be arrested for pissing in the street and jailed!”

Response: I agree with you that this is disgusting and at least it was effectively dealt with by the apartheid government. I know that some people get angry with me on this one, but the truth is that only BLACK MAN go around doing that disgusting thing.
And if these facts are true, they are the harvest of what? What is the cause for this effect? Let's face it government the world over is in crisis at the moment for corruption, inadequacy and deliberately misleading the people. Is it more of a global malaise?

    Britain- politicians accepting illegal donations

US- Iraq War and lying, 50 years of promoting global terrorism

Italy- 61 governments in 64 years

    China- human rights abuses

Russia- new dictatorship, corruption, crime wave.

France and Germany- odours of corruption around ex-premiers

and the list goes on and on....

The label of racist in a South Afrian context is not for criticising the government, it is because many South Africans criticise with a ';I told you this would happen under the blacks'; type of mentality. This is where race comes into it.

How to change a 70Hz LCD to 60Hz?

i was using a graphics card that use the refresh rate at 70Hz but now it has fried and and i regained the integrated graphics but now i cannot get into my computer because the screen can only run at 60Hz.

how can i change it if i can only get into safe modeHow to change a 70Hz LCD to 60Hz?

Right-click your desktop pic and click Properties. Go to the settings tab and there it should be. But then again, I have a Mac, so I'm probably wrong.
    i had this problem

my screen was at 85hz but it crashed. and i went to my friend's house and brought my comp but his screen was supporting 60hz. so the screen was like lkjsdflkjdslkfjds i searched in safe mod but i dont know how to change it. the best thing is change your screen and low the resolution and then put your screen on

    Cant change ubuntu screen resolution?

My ubuntu screen reslolution is stuck at 640x480 when attempting to change it via system/prefrences/screen resolution nothing happens after clicking the arrows for either the resolution or the refresh rate, i know my monitor supports at least 1024x768 how can i change it to this?Cant change ubuntu screen resolution?
I used to have such problem. I installed Ubuntu on laptop (with max 1024x768), but I am using external monitor (with max 1600x1200). I don't remember the exact solution to this problem.

The problem lies with X windows system configuration (assuming the drivers are ok). The drivers are probed for maximum resolution during installation, and after that the system simply assumes the resolution is ok.

You need to go through manuals for X window system configuration and reset it. If I am not mistaken, it is some .conf file within /etc/X11 or something.Cant change ubuntu screen resolution?
I suggest you check and see if your video card drivers are compatible with Ubuntu. This can prevent you from making changes to the display settings.
You can easily click on ';Desktop'; from menu bar.

then go to preferences and choose resolution size.

    finally choose your favorite resolution.

But I think it would't work so good. choosing the resolution during the installation is the best way.

How to fix my shaking LCD external computer monitor?

I recently bought a new laptop (HP Pavailion with the Intel HD Graphics Card) but when I connect it to my existing LCD external computer monitor (Lenovo D221), I get a shakey image on the monitor. I've checked the resolution setting. I've checked that the monitor works with other computers. I tried to adjust the refresh rate on the new laptop, but it does not allow me to change it from the only setting of 60 Hz.

please help!COMPUTER OUT OF SCAN RANGE HELP!?
You need to hold down F8 right after the manufacturer's logo disappears after first turning on your computer. From the menu that appears, select ';Use basic video'; or ';safe graphics mode';. (If the menu doesn't appear, turn off your computer and try again). Change your resolution after Windows has booted in safe graphics mode.

I'm trying to install a graphics card in my computer, but the display has bars on it. How do you fix it?

Are there any display settings I can change? Last time I manipulated the screen refresh rate, but I can't do that this time. I'm usuing a ATI RADEON 4650. ANy suggestions would be helpful. THanksI'm trying to install a graphics card in my computer, but the display has bars on it. How do you fix it?
Try going into windows and into ATI Catalyst control center, then changing the resolution. If that isn't possible, go into safe mode, uninstall the graphics drivers and set a low resolution via the windows display settings. Then re-download the drivers and you should be fine. If this is happening outside of windows, then try another graphics card and see if there are any incorrect settings in the BIOS.

Why can't my HDTV support a higher resolution for my PC?

I just got my new PC today, its a HP Pavilion A6750F and it uses ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics card and I have 22 inch SENS LCD HDTV with a built-in DVD player that comes with HDMI and a PC input. Before ordering my PC, I planned on using this TV as a moniter for my new computer seeing how it worked wonderfully with my old one. I connected the TV to the PC using a DVI connection, it was running smooth at first but than the resolution was very low so than I decided to raise the reso, after that my TV would go black non stop. I thought it was because of my DVI cable so today I went to Radioshack to buy a DVI to HDMI wire for 59 dollars (I think I got ripped), so I hooked it up when I came back, once I booted up my PC, everything seemed really huge and fuzzy/blurry (HD? Yeah right..), I tried changing the resolution, refresh rate, settings and in the end I ended up with 1280 x 720 with 60hz, which is lower than I expected. If I try anything higher, my TV would just lose signal. This is what it says on my TV box:

    Specifications

    - Panel Resolution: 1680 x 1050

    - Aspect Ratio: 16:10

    - Contrast Ratio: 700:!

    - Response Time: 8 MS

    - Power Rating: 120v 60hz

What I don't get is, I used this TV as monitor for my older computer which had weaker specs than my new HP pc, yet it ran everything nicely. I'm losing sleep because of this, someone please help me out here. Thanks in advance!

-Why can't my HDTV support a higher resolution for my PC?
9ordoes the pc have hdmi or dvi or vga? if it has hdmi conect it thru hdmi and set the res on the pc to 1920x1080(1080p) or 1280x720(720p) thos are the two suported reselutions by hdmi. if its dvi or vga set the res on the tv(shoud be a button to do that while you have the tv on pc input mode) to 1920x1200 or 1680 x 1050 and set the pc's res to the same. Why can't my HDTV support a higher resolution for my PC?
The panels native resolution (1680x1050) and the supported input resolution may be different. Consult the manual for your tv to determine the maximum supported resolution. 1280x720 might be the highest resolution it accepts.
how many bits does you graphics card had? ATI HD3200 is an old model, for me i prefered inno3D coz it gives a much better performance

Did I get permanent damage from using an LCD monitor on an old computer?

I have an old computer that sits in the closet. It's a Compaq 2240. I used it about three weeks ago to see the content on the hard drive to see old memories and possible data that I or some other people would like to backup before I do something else with it. However, when I plugged the LCD monitor and Windows 98 was on the login dialog box, the monitor showed ';Unsupported Refresh Rate'; and it was not all black like some other monitors would show. Does someone know if the monitor has a fallback on a refresh rate that the LCD monitor support itself?. The LCD monitor used that time is an Acer AL1916. I seemed to have some headache only after looking at it a few seconds. Just to go on the Properties to change the refresh rate, I had to watch only for a few seconds before I had to pause to get there. I didn't notice any problem with the eyes, just the brain. I don't notice any symptoms ever since that experiment, nor any pressure with the brain or whatever you call it. After some time playing it, I wanted to boot a disc to be able to use USB keys for backup, then I have seen in the BIOS configuration setup an option for the monitor. There are options that allows to query the monitor automatically, to assume if it's like the old monitor that goes with this computer model, or to say explicitly that it's not a Compaq Multimedia monitor or something like that. The monitor that came originally with the computer is a Compaq Presario v410e and I either don't have it anymore or I have not noticed where it is. The computer was used with another old monitor of the same era that looked greenish at that time and the BIOS setup was probably the same but had no such message. It had similar capabilities of the original monitor, maybe a little more. It was also a CRT and caused no problem, unlike with the LCD. It might be because of the value that has been set up the last time in Windows before switching but that could also be caused by the BIOS with the ';assume'; setting that it is the good old Compaq Monitor. I am knowledgable enough about computers enough, so don't worry to talk about the BIOS and Windows 98 communications and how it has been handled and if I have to worry about brain damage or the headache I got. I also have to say that another person was here and got the same thing fast. It was unexpected, considering that many times the monitors were swapped with the computers that have been around me.Did I get permanent damage from using an LCD monitor on an old computer?
Honestly, I can't imagine that the monitor had anything to do with your headache, especially if you've used that monitor before on other computers. I think it was some other environmental occurance at the time %26amp;/or just sheer coincidence. Any permanent damage is highly unlikely.

As for the ';Unsupported Refresh Rate,'; it just means that the selected refresh rate in Windows 98 was set to a value that the LCD monitor does not support. Commonly LCD's support 60 %26amp; 70Hz refresh rates, anything other than that would result in the error. You could try booting into the Windows SAFE mode and try to change the refresh rate there, or you'd have to find an older monitor to attach temporarily to change the refresh rate or just get the data off that you wanted.

You could try the automatic monitor query, but the monitor is much newer than the computer and it may not be properly supported to do so.

    Best of luck.

How do I rotate my screen on a Dell XPS?

When I right click on the desk top to go into Display Properties%26gt;Settings%26gt;Advanced%26gt;Rotation and click the one I want, I get an error message: The requested Rotation mode is not supported by your current display mode (resolution and/or refresh rate and/or colour depth). Please change the current display mode and try again.

I don't know what this means, so don't know how to fix it.How do I rotate my screen on a Dell XPS?
rotating the screen is for monitors that can also rotate on there stand on a swivel basically. For example a wide screen monitor sits say 15 inches by 25 inches you can then turn the monitor so it is now sits 25 inches by 15. This is basically what that is for.How do I rotate my screen on a Dell XPS?
I am new to this Yahoo Answer junk, but no, that is NOT the best answer. It didnt even answer my question. I know WHY I would want to rotate my screen, I know HOW to rotate my screen, obviously. The PROBLEM is the ERROR MESSAGE I'm getting when trying to do so. This question is UNRESOLVED.

When I purchased the video card they gave me a 7 pin SVideo to RCA adapter (in one end it has a 7 pin connector and at the other end a yellow video out port, exactly like this one:http://cgi.ebay.com/7-Pin-S-Video-to-AV-TV-Out-VGA-Adapter-ATI-nVIDIA-Video_W0QQitemZ350191014406QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090416?IMSfp=TL090416154004r29932) and I was wondering if I could watch movies and play games on my big TV. Do I must change the resolution/ refresh rate? Please give me a full tutorial for idiots how to make it work on my TV (which is CRT)7 pin S-Video out to RCA in.?
S-Video is well standardised - it is always standard definition TV. If you set your card to S-Video output everything else will be taken care of. I don't have your graphics card but can't give you detailed advice but it will likely be on your graphics card settings tab (right click on the desktop-%26gt;properties-%26gt;settings, probably under the advanced tab.

Be warned however, that TV's do not make very good monitors, particularly CRTs. You may find that the low resolution and flicker make the TV unusable as a computer display.

I set the refresh rate at 60?

When i go on this site i see something weird things, I guess it's called the flicker because when i scroll if flashes.. when i visit other sites, it doesnt do that.. how do I get my original setting.. because i tried to change the 60 but i can't it wont show the other optionsI set the refresh rate at 60?
It is unlikely that the refresh rate for your monitor is only affecting one site... if you cant change your refresh rate, then perhaps your monitor only supports 60 hz, otherwise maybe it will allow you to change the refresh rate if you change your screen resolution first, try starting at 1024X768

How do I change the hertz on my hdtv?

I purchased a Samsung UN55B8000 that has a refresh rate of 240hz, but my hdtv is only playing in 60hz on every channel. What's a way I can change it to 240hz? Your help is much appreciated. Thanks! How do I change the hertz on my hdtv?
The 60Hz you're seeing is the electricity amplitude. There is only 60Hz (North America). The other option is 50Hz (Europe/Asia).

The 240Hz refresh rate feature is always on. Some older HDTVs had the ability to turn it on/off in the menu system, but modern ones have it on all the time (whether its auto on/off or just purely always on, I'm not sure). So with such a new set, there's nothing for you to do. It should always be working to help reduce/hide motion blur issues.

Again as far as I know you shouldn't have to do anything. But giving the manual a quick read might be worth it if you feel the option can be turned on/off. But I'm pretty sure like I've already said, its always on.

How to increase display resolution and screen refresh rate in Windows XP?

I have ruined my two days in order to solve this problem but I couldnot.I am explaining this step by step. Problem is related with Screen Resolution and Screen Refresh Rate.

    My Laptop Configuration is

    -Gericom First Supersonic PCI E

    -Intel 915PM ChipSet

    -1.73 Ghz Intel M Centrino

    -1 GB RAM

-Nvidia Geforce Go 128 Graphics Card

If I go in Display properties%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Setting, Its only showing Default Monitor under display and giving me screen resolution option of either (800 x 600) OR (1024 x 768). I could not able to increase resolution.

If I go to Display Properties%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Settings%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Advanced%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Adap鈥?All adapter information is Unavailable. If you open up properties it will mention driver name ';2VgaSave'; and says that This device is working properly.

My screen refresh size is very slow. I tried to change it (Display Properties%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Settings%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Advanced%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Moni鈥?but its not giving me any option except Default hardware settings.

In Device Manager under display adaptor its showing only ';Nvidia Geforce Go 6600'; ITs status showing everything is fine in General, Driver Tab.

I thought to change some setting in ';NVidia nView Desktop Manager'; which is located in Controle Panel but I could not able to open it. Its not opening and showing no error as well.

I have tried various times to uninstall/Install graphics card drivers. I tried for latest updates of drivers but they are not installing.

I tried to disable the default monitor

    DisplayProperties%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Settings%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Advance鈥?Usage %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Disable

then my windows screen got blank. I tried everything to get it back but in the end i have to install windows again.

MDHow to increase display resolution and screen refresh rate in Windows XP?
Ok, Sounds like you have DRIVER issues...

It sounds like you have an integrated Nvidia GEForce Go 6600 128 graphics adaptor (you should be able to tell for SURE by referencing your documentation -- what type of laptop?)

My first clue is that you said that when you go to the Adaptor Advanced settins, everything is unavailable -- BAD DRIVER INSTALLATION... If you've downloaded the latest available drivers from NVIDIA, try using a 3rd party driver... My favorite is Omega drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/nvidia_winxp.php). Download the latest driver there (one size fits most, i.e., dont worry abotu versions, just download and install). you should first UNINSTALL your current adaptor and it's drivers... you can do this from the DRIVER tab in the Advanced Adaptor Properties.

Once this is installed, according to the NVIDIA website, you should be able to acheive a resolution of 2048x1536 on a refresh rate of 85 Hz.

You should not need to install or worry about the MONITOR driver... However if your system came with a driver CD, you might consider checking there for one.

Dont worry about messing with nView at the moment. Just get the drivers installed so that you can see the properties and use the right resolutions... nView wont do anything there that regular display settings cant.

I'm willing to guarantee that this is a driver problem.

I want to change my settings so my home pages refreshes every time I visit. How do I do this?

    Yahoo Help provides this:

    b. Set My Yahoo! to automatically refresh your page:

At the top of your My Yahoo! page, click the Select Page drop-down menu, select Add/Delete Page.

Scroll down to the Options section, locate the Refresh Rate menu.

Select the rate at which you want your content to update.

Next time you leave your browser open to My Yahoo!, you'll see that it updates the page automatically.

I can't find the select page drop down menu, I must be blind!I want to change my settings so my home pages refreshes every time I visit. How do I do this?
    If you have only one page, it won't be at the top right corner. But what will be is an icon of your page and right next to it is ';add new page';

Click on that and just make a new page.

    When you make the page, go back to the same area and select ';Select Page.';

    Then there will be a table that shows ';Add/Delete Page.';

When it loads the page, you can do your preferences there.

You can also deleted your second page after your change your preferences.

No input signal + Out of range monitor errors!?

Ok, i recently moved my computer from upstairs to downstairs connected it all together, everything going fine until i turn it on.. for some reason i get those 2 errors ';Out of range'; ';No input signal'; My monitor was working fine before i moved it.. all leads are in properly infact i didnt even unplug the monitor leads!

Iv searched far and wide on various websites for help but no ones stories match mine, so i guess i should try my own branch..

Now other sites have said, change the refresh rates to 60HZ and to do that i need to go into safe mode, now my other problem is.. no matter how much i mash the F8 key, i dont seem to get into the options screen and i tested my keyboard on my laptop and it works fine so im really confused :S

I know theres problery hundreds of post like these but the ones i checked didnt have the same problem as me, any infomation is very welcome, so please help! i would go into more depth on my problems but clearly 1000 characters isnt enough :)

Can someone maybe help me fix my monitor?

First off, it's a flat panel LCD from Optiquest. It's got this little drag thing to it, I don't know how else to explain it. If there's a white background and dark text, over to the right side of the screen there will be something like a shadow, it gets darker there. It's only when there's black/dark text or images. I've tried changing the refresh rate, and it helps a little for a little while, but that's it. Anyone know of a good fix, or do I have to just buy another monitor? It's really very distracting. Thanks! Can someone maybe help me fix my monitor?
I would first uninstall and reinstall your video drivers just to rule that out and even try a new video cable. Then if the problem persists I would think that it's the monitor. Also, considering that it's a ViewSonic and that it's acting weird isn't a surprise. Those monitors are known to be squirrely. Can someone maybe help me fix my monitor?

How can I fix these artifacts and white lines cased by my Nvidia video card?

I recently reinstalled windows and my original video card drivers. Ever since then, I am getting lots of 1 pixel dashed lines across my desktop and applications. Movies are worse - I get flickering horizontal white lines, sort of like static. Happens in all video regardless of size, res., codec, etc.

I am convinced this is not a hardware issue because:

    - It was fine before the reinstall, and I didn't touch the hardware

    - If I run a video and pause it, all the problems go away EXCEPT for that video. So for example I can run 1 video, which gets the white lines, pause it, then run a second video. That second video looks fine, and all the little lines on my desktop also disappear.

The problem doesn't occur if I lower my hardware acceleration level in windows display properties. But I have to lower it to the point where directX and direct3D are disabled, so that's not an acceptible fix.

    Things I have already tried:

    - Reinstalling oldest drivers, newest ones, and many of others

    - Reinstalling directX9.0c (I maybe had 9.0b before?)

    - Changing every possible setting in the Nvidia control panel

    - Under and Overclocking the card with ATITool and RivaTuner

    - Reseating it (couldn't hurt)

    - Changing resolution, refresh rate, etc.

    - Installing the monitor driver (tho it doesn't seem necessary)How can I fix these artifacts and white lines cased by my Nvidia video card?
Hi. Try stopping as many background processes as you can to see if the problem is reduced. How can I fix these artifacts and white lines cased by my Nvidia video card?
I had a nVidia GeForce 6600GT that blew a GPU unit / shader when runing a 3D demo. Aero looked like a crazy screensaver rather than a desktop. I also saw a 6600GT that either blew up the 2D engine or had bad RAM.

First, try installing nVidia latest drivers. I don't know if they detect dead shaders (I once saw an app that let you turn on/off shaders individually), but I do know they do a better job preventing the GPU cooking itself to death.

If that still doesn't work, try running DXDiag and disable DirectX 3D acceleration. In your video players set them to use the ';overlay mixer'; which doesn't use 3D. Few stupid apps cry when there's no accelerated directx.

  • How do you find the equation of the derivative for this function?

The equation is f(x)=1/(x-2) and I am having trouble using the difference quotient to find the equation for the derivative (the equation that you can use to put in any value for x and find the instantaneous rate of change at that time). To refresh your memory, the difference quotient is [f(x+h)-f(x)] / h How do you find the equation of the derivative for this function?
No need to use the quotient rule my good chum. Rewrite the equation as:

f(x) = (x-2)^-1, then use the chain rule. So the final answer is:

    -(x-2)^-2 * 1, or:

    -1/(x-2)^2

Hope this helps. How do you find the equation of the derivative for this function?
Don't think of f(x) as a fraction, think of it like this:

    f(x) = (x-2)^(-1) (x minus 2 to the negative 1)

    so: f'(x) = -(x-2)^(-2)

    following the rule:

    x^n = nx^(n-1)

If you are running 32-bit windows install it off your driver disk , or download it from computer manufacture website, unzip and install.

note- if you are running x64 windows, and the driver package provided is 32-bit (x86) you have two options to install the driver:

    1. xp pro x64 does not require signed drivers so download the 64-bit desktop version from amd.com, and use the modtool to modify it for mobility.

    2. Vista x64 disable the device signing at startup and install unsigned modded driver, or force the x64 desktop version driver through device manager.

If you are running the version of windows that came with your computer. and it is still under warranty I suggest calling the tech support number and having them walk you through the video driver reinstall.

    Screen Resolution problems?

I just got windows xp reinstalled on my comp and hooked it up to my monitor (used a diffeferent one for the installation though) a 22 inch Dell LCD.

However, the computer doesn't recognize it and can only display some crappy resolution which makes stuff look too big. It just says default monitor (in properties, guess it doesn't recognize it?) and I can't even see or change the refresh rate. And when I try for the maximum resolution it says ';cannot display this video mode'; which never happened before and says optimum resolution 1680 x 1050 or something (I don't have that option only 1600 x 1200 and one above it which render the same result).

Now I tried this comp on my other LCD monitor which is identical and was running with another Compaq comp whose resolution was fine, with the same result. After I hooked my old Compaq back in and after I shut it down and reopened it I got bad resolution on this one too and I got the same message, when I tried to change it (max was 1600 x 1200 and it did have the 1680x1050 option before but not anymore... wtf?). The resolution was fine before and it was at the optimum for the screen and now it's all messed up (well everything's to big). I tried going into safe mode on the Compaq and set the resolution higher (it went up higher 17xx x 19xx or something) anyway when I shut down and opened the computer normally it had the 1680 x 1050 option available again but when I shut down/opened it again it went back to the same crappy one and the 1680 x 1050 option was missing yet again. Dell had something on their webpage about powering off monitors and starting them again but that doesn't do anything...

Anyone know how I can change my resolution so it's not all crunched up? The safe mode thing doesn't work for the other comp though, only the compaq.Screen Resolution problems?
It is because at this time Dell doesn't recognize your graphics card so it is using the default driver vgasafe which is why it looks so bad. Try going to dell.com and find the graphics driver for your computer unless you added a graphics card in which case go to the manufacturers website and find the drivers for your card.Screen Resolution problems?
what i wood do is start in 'safe mode with networking' and make sure you hav the latest drivers (the small pieces of software that allow your comp to talk to hardware) for your graphics card and then your monitor(s) (if possible to find. On 1 of my monitors there is only a cd but the driver on that isnt on the net anywhere!!!). These would be available on the manufaturer's websites or u might get them off of microsoft update site if that works in safe mode

Alright, I thought I solved this problem, but now its back!

I play maplestory and they just had a new patch. So, I think something changed in their monitor display requirements. I can see the picture perfectly, its just the stupid input not supported box floating around.

I've been using a dual monitor for a while on my laptop. I have a NVIDIA 8600m GT graphics card. It was working perfectly until one day I noticed that my second monitor started flickering and that the image was cut off. I fixed the flickering by changing the refresh rate, and I fixed part of the cut off problem by changing the resolution to something not meant for flat screen. However, my screen is still messed up because the image still appears a little to the right. The left side is cut off by a dark blue area. The dark blue isn't clickable. I can see my whole desktop now but I would like it to be centered. How do I change this?My multiple dual monitor set up is all of a sudden faulty. My second monitor is cut off. A way to fix it?
Some of this sounds like distortion.

Make sure you're not using a bad cable.

Also, if you believe the image is shifted, and are using a VGA (not DVI/digital) connection to the external monitor, try using the monitor's settings to movie the image over.

How do I fix a ';Frequency out of range'; problem?

On my 2nd computer I am getting a ';frequency out of range'; error message when I try to start it up. It will then shut off like when your computer is idling and goes to sleep mode or something. I have read a few posts about what the problem could be. Some have said its because the refresh rate isn't compatible with the computer or something but everyone is saying that I need to get to the desktop so i can go to my start button and change the refresh rate but it wont get that far, the screen just shuts down. Anyone have some suggestions? How do I fix a ';Frequency out of range'; problem?
As the computer is booting up %26amp; prior to the windows logo, press F8 to go to the Windows Startup menu.

Select VGA Compatibility Mode as your bootup selection. This will set your video to the basic vga defaults and allow you to alter your settings.

Once you're in windows, access your device manager and delete your video card %26amp; monitor.

The reason for that is under Windows 2000 you could change your settings and they would carry over to normal mode, but for some reason XP no longer allows this nor does Vista. You have to remove the hardware drivers in order to undo those settings.

Once you delete them, reboot normally and allow your system to redetect your devices. Once you're done set the display to 800x600 16-bit color. Then modify the screen size to 1024x768, if it works then apply that new settings, keep this up until it gives you the error again (when it does, just sit tight the system will revert back to the previous settings in a few seconds). Once you have the size set, then bump the colors to 32-bit.

Average monitors should stay at 1024x768 (anything higher usually requires you to modify refresh rates amoung other things).

    ** UPDATE **

I saw your additional notes and wanted to add this,

If nothing comes up after the POST screen, it could very well be a flaky video card. Even though you get display at POST that is just basic video doesn't require much from your card. But once it goes black %26amp; should display the windows logo, it is requiring higher graphics to display that. I'd say stop by a Wal-Mart or whereever and grab a cheap PCI card, test it and find out (unless you have a spare you can use). How do I fix a ';Frequency out of range'; problem?

When you are in display properties to pick a resolution, make sure you check the box that says ' only show resolutions this monitor can handle '

If you let me know your computer make and model, I can give you the link to the latest drivers.
The above solutions on driver issues sound accurate.

To remedy this driver issue (for future re-installs), after you get the XP operational with correct %26amp; updated drivers, back them up to a separate CD.

It gets harder and harder to find them, and many places charge to get them.

    Try Driver Magician Lite (freeware);

    http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/system

Use it to identify %26amp; back up all drivers for this BU. Always keep it with your unit.
Use the setup disk that your Internet Provider sent upon installation. If you don't have one, call them and ask about it.

Or, you could also look online for drivers for your network card.

How can i reset my mac mini, iam using it on a tv, I cannot see the screen b/c of refresh rate?

I am using a g4 mac mini, I am on vacation so my only monitor is a tv. the correct refresh rate is the ntsc setting on display preferences but due to my settings i cannot see my monitor to change it. i already zapped the pram. thanks! How can i reset my mac mini, iam using it on a tv, I cannot see the screen b/c of refresh rate?
ok....i'm not too sure about the mac coz i've never worked on one...but like in xp...if there is a safe mode...boot in it....with minimal congigurations and minimal driver......then create another login account on ur mac.....for the login account give set the required display routine e.g. the refresh rate and the resolution etc.... i think u'll be able to get the display on the tv in the safe mode if there exists one on the mac....and i cannot think of any other solution...see if it works... :) all the best....

How do I change my external monitor display so it doesn't look stretched using a desktop computer?

I successfully hooked my Dell 'laptop' up to my Samsung LN-S3251D flat screen TV. When i first plugged it in i knew i had to press ';Fn+F8'; (CRT/LCD) to get it to not looked stretched, and it worked.

I'm having a problem with changing these settings on my brothers 'desktop' computer using the same exact TV, i have it hooked up correctly and it looks how my laptop display looked before i used the CRT/LCD button. I've changed the Screen refresh rate from 75 to 60 hertz and it just looks worse. There are no function keys on a desktop so how can i get this to work properly? How do I change my external monitor display so it doesn't look stretched using a desktop computer?
that's happened to me heres the direction if u have vista 7 (ithink...prettysure) and just go to ur desktop screen then right click and go to properties/personalize and then go to display settings and u should see two boxes; one big one small and one box has '1' on it and the other has '2' on it. below that u should see a bar that says :

    Resolution:

    Low---l---l---l---l--l---l---l---High

there should be a thing you can slide and the lowest is like streatched and highest is rlly fine and sharp sooo hope this helps just put it to one of the highest places u can

    sorry if it doesnt help):

How can I change a computer monitor to ';Negative mode';, the display will reproduce as a photograhic negative?

At one time had software that controlled my video card and everything changed into a ';negative mode';. For example if I had a JPEG of a real photographic negative it would appear as a positive while the rest of the screen was a negative. I do not want render a negative mode - just change the display in real time. I think the software may have been from Tiawan, I could change the color balance, gamma, refresh rate and timing of the monitor. among other things. The software was also popular with gamers. How can I change a computer monitor to ';Negative mode';, the display will reproduce as a photograhic negative?

Try with Adobe Photoshop. It's really works.
The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. Detailed instructions available at http://fixit.in/monitor.html

What is the normal refresh rate for LCD monitor and browser scrolling itself?

I have 2 refresh rates 60 and 75. I saw recommended is 75. Main problem of screen flickers is especially on mozilla and internet explorer. Even when I changed the mouse, the browsers scrolled up and down quickly and flicker. Why does this happen, how to solve?

Do provide contact so i can ask again please! What is the normal refresh rate for LCD monitor and browser scrolling itself?
LCD monitors use 60hz. 75 makes moving graphics on the screen a little more smooth (mainly only noticeable in games) but most LCD displays don't support over 60.

There are some higher-end displays that support 120hz, but they're pretty damn pricey!
