COMPUTER OUT OF SCAN RANGE HELP!?

my computer says its out of scan range with a black screen

i cant even login or see my desktop

i keep reading that i have to change my resolution or refresh rate

but how am i suppossed to do that if i only have a blank screen??

You need to hold down F8 right after the manufacturer's logo disappears after first turning on your computer. From the menu that appears, select ';Use basic video'; or ';safe graphics mode';. (If the menu doesn't appear, turn off your computer and try again). Change your resolution after Windows has booted in safe graphics mode.
